No one should fear financial ruin, or fatal health concerns, because they aren't able to afford health insurance- a problem that effects over 10% of our population in D1.
.
Right here in our community, there are over 300,000 Alabamians caught in the gap — making too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to afford coverage.
Without access to preventative care, unpaid medical care increases at our already struggling hospitals, and drives up the rate of service. Alabama has refused to expand Medicaid, and now the federal government is making it even harder. That has to change.
I believe in the expansion of Medicaid, and ACA Enhanced Premium Tax Credits to ease the burden of health care on every day Americans.
We can't snap our fingers, and have a new healthcare system. I'll commit to fixing what's broken so Americans can be cared for, while working on a new, and better, healthcare plan.
